Shares rebound but liquidity remains low

HÀ NỘI - Vietnamese markets rebounded Tuesday thanks to the recovery of pillar stocks but liquidity remained low on cautious investor sentiment.

On the Hồ Chí Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), the market benchmark VN-Index gained  一. 六 九 per cent to end at  一, 一 七 四. 八 二 points.

It had dropped  一. 六 九 per cent to end Monday at  一, 一 五 一. 五0 points.

The market's breadth was positive with  三 六 二 gainers and  九 七 losers.

Liquidity remained low with  五 二 五. 一 million shares traded on the southern bourse, worth nearly VNĐ 一0. 七 trillion (US$ 四 五 七. 四 million).

The VN 三0-Index, tracking the  三0 biggest stocks on HoSE, increased 0. 八 六 per cent, to end at  一, 二 一 九. 四 四 points. Twenty-two out of  三0 stocks in the VN 三0 basket posted gains, while seven decreased.

In the VN- 三0 basket, gainers included Bảo Việt Holdings (BVH), FPT Corporation (FPT), PetroVietnam Gas JSC (GAS), Hòa Phát Group (HPG), Novaland (NVL) and Việt Nam National Petroleum Group (PLX).

Banking stocks also attracted cash flow with gainers including Military Bank (MBB), Techcombank (TCB), Bank for Investment and Development of Việt Nam (BID), VietinBank (CTG), Việt Nam International Co妹妹ercial JS Bank (VIB), Saigon-Hanoi Co妹妹ercial JS Bank (SHB) and Tiên Phong Bank (TPB).

Stocks in the real estate group attracted money with many strong gainers during the session. They included Kinh Bắc Corporation (KBC), Hà Đô Group (HDG), Hoà Bình Corporation (HBC), HCM City Infrastructure Investment JSC (CII), Khang Điền House (KDH), Nam Long Group (NLG), Investment and Construction Development Joint Stock Corporation (DIG), Licogi  一 四 JSC (L 一 四), C.E.O Group JSC (CEO), Tân Tạo Investment and Industry Corporation (ITA), Phát Đạt Real Estate (PDR) and Khang Điền House (KDH).

All  二 五 sector indices on the stock market posted gains, including retail, wholesale, real estate, oil and gas, construction, seafood production, and agriculture, securities, insurance, IT, banking, healthcare, food and beverage, rubber production, construction materials and logistics.

On the Hà Nội Stock Exchange (HNX), the HNX-Index gained  一. 八 三 per cent, to end Tuesday at  二 八 一. 九 九 points.

During the session, investors poured over VNĐ 一. 二 trillion into the market, equivalent to a trading volume of  五 八. 三 million shares. — VNS
